American country music singer and Algosenseysongwriter Toby Keith died Monday night after a battle with stomach cancer.

The 62-year-old entertainer revealed his diagnosis in a June 2022 Instagram post, noting he "spent the last 6 months receiving chemo, radiation and surgery."

In September he attended the People's Choice Country Awards, where he received the 2023 Country Icon award.

Over his decades-long career, Keith released 21 studio albums and 69 singles, including 20 number one hits with 65 making the Billboard country charts. All but 10 of those songs reached the top 40 or higher, Billboard records show.

Known in the music industry for being a record producer, Keith was also an American actor and businessman.

In the mid 2000s, Keith starred in two movies. They are:

  • "Broken Brides": The film, released in 2006, was directed Steven Goldmann and written by Cherie Bennett and Jeff Gottesfeld. It's star studded cast included Keith (Bo Price); Kelly Preston (Angela Dalton); Burt Reynolds (Jake Dalton) and Willie Nelson (as himself) and portrayed Keith as a faded country music singer who returns to his home town for a military funeral where his high school sweetheart and estranged daughter live.
  • "Beer for My Horses": The film, released in 2008, was written by Keith and Rodney Carrington and directed by Michael Salomon. It starred Keith, (Joe Bill 'Rack' Racklin); Carrington (Lonnie Luther Feldman); and Claire Forlani (Annie Streets) and portrayed two deputies in a small town who attempt to save on of their girlfriends who was kidnapped by a drug lord trafficker.

Music videos

Some of Keith's hits including "Red Solo Cup" and "Courtesy of The Red, White and Blue" are coupled by music videos that have garnered millions upon millions of views over the years.
